In June 2013 The Juniper Passion will receive its premier live performance in a New Zealand/ Italy production in the location where the opera was set in Cassino as well as further performances in Rome and Frosinone.
This will be the first time that a New Zealand opera will be presented in Italy, the home of opera.
The cast will be the same as that of the recording including the Pati brothers Pene and Amitai, Stephanie Acraman, Lilia Carpenelli, Julia Booth, James Ioelu and Matt Landreth.
The production is being developed by an incredible creative team including Wayne Laird Audio Director, Moss Paterson choreography, Mike Knapp lighting design, John Parker stage design and Sean Castles, video images.
Everyone involved in this project are among the very best in their fields in New Zealand and we aim to deliver an unforgettable production.
At the launch of the CD in April a trial of the production was presented which has formed the basis for producing the entire opera. Images from the launch are below.
